Wonder-led Play, Powered by Curiosity

Welcome to a world where curiosity leads the way!

Our Pre-K/TK class is rooted in the belief that children learn best through hands-on experiences, joyful play, and meaningful connection with the natural world.

In this play-based program, little learners engage with authentic, open-ended materials. Think mud kitchens, tree stumps, pinecones, and paint,  sparking creativity, problem-solving, and wonder. Whether we’re building fairy houses from found objects, investigating bugs with, or storytelling in forts, every activity is thoughtfully designed to nurture the whole child socially, emotionally, cognitively, and physically.

In addition to open-ended play, our days are rich with purposeful learning:
- Phonics instruction is grounded in the Science of Reading, helping students build strong early literacy skills through engaging games, songs, and multi-sensory activities.
- Math is hands-on and playful, using manipulatives and movement-based games to explore early concepts like counting, sorting, patterning, and shapes.
- Science is driven by student curiosity, with child-led investigations into the natural world fueled by questions, magnifying glasses, and plenty of “what ifs?”

In this nurturing and creative space, mistakes are celebrated, discoveries are daily, and every child is empowered to grow, explore, and shine at their own pace.

Is Your Child Ready To Participate In Our Program?

At The Learning Grove, we’re all about joyful learning, curiosity, and connection! To help your child get the most out of their experience, we ask that families take a moment to review the following readiness guidelines. We understand that some days are smoother than others (for little ones and big ones), but in general, students should be able to:

  • Be fully potty trained (including knowing when to go and managing toileting needs independently)

  • Wash hands and dress themselves with basic independence

  • Say goodbye to their grown-up and join in the fun

  • Show interest and willingness to participate in activities

  • Let us know if they need help or have a concern

  • Move from one activity to another with minimal support, even when things shift a little

  • Take part in group activities without needing constant one-on-one attention

  • Stay with the group and play safely without wandering off

  • Use the restroom, wash hands, and get dressed with independence

  • Work through challenges without using physical or hurtful language

We’re here to support each child’s growth with care and compassion and these guidelines help create a safe and positive space for everyone to learn and thrive together!
