Living History
Time Travelers: Night At The Museum

Where history comes alive.

Step into a world where the past is anything but distant. Inspired by Night at the Museum,
this immersive history class invites students to explore fascinating historical figures, cultures,
and moments in time through story, discussion, and hands-on discovery.

Each week, students are introduced to a new figure or civilization, uncovering who they were,
how they lived, and why they mattered. Throughout the session, students will explore figures such as Theodore Roosevelt, Sacagawea, Attila the Hun, Napoleon Bonaparte, and Amelia Earhart, along with connections to Ancient Rome through the character of Octavius, and much more.

Through storytelling, interactive activities, and thoughtful exploration, students begin to see history not as a list of facts, but as a collection of real people and meaningful stories. We also explore the difference between history and Hollywood, helping students think critically about what is real, what is imagined, and how stories are told over time.

This class builds a strong foundation in historical understanding while nurturing curiosity, empathy, and a deeper connection to the world and those who came before us.

Exhibit Studio
Where history is built, not just learned.

In Exhibit Studio, students become museum curators, designers, and creators, bringing history to life through hands-on, project-based work. Building on what they learn in Night at the Museum, students design and create their own exhibits, artifacts, and interactive displays inspired by the people and time periods they study.

Projects may include building dioramas, crafting replicas, designing maps, creating models, or developing interactive elements that help tell a story. Students are encouraged to think deeply about how to represent their learning in meaningful and creative ways.

Over time, projects are refined, expanded, and revisited, allowing ideas to grow and take shape. Students develop skills in design, problem-solving, collaboration, and presentation as they work toward a culminating Night at the Museum experience, where both students and creations become the exhibit.

Exhibit Studio transforms learning into something tangible,
where students don’t just learn about history, they build it, shape it, and bring it to life.

Mixed-Age Class Structure
At The Learning Grove, our classes are intentionally designed for mixed-age groups, typically Kindergarten through 5th Grade. 6th graders may be accepted on a case-by-case basis, especially if enrolling with a sibling in the same class.
This model encourages leadership, collaboration, and community. Older students mentor and model, while younger students learn by example, building empathy, confidence, and teamwork.

To support every child’s growth, our day includes age-based breakout sessions for developmentally appropriate instruction. This thoughtful structure ensures that all students are engaged, challenged, and inspired.
Is Your Child Ready To Participate In Our Program?

At The Learning Grove, we’re all about joyful learning, curiosity, and connection! To help your child get the most out of their experience, we ask that families take a moment to review the following readiness guidelines. We understand that some days are smoother than others (for little ones and big ones), but in general, students should be able to:

-
Be fully potty trained (including knowing when to go and managing toileting needs independently)
-
Wash hands and dress themselves with basic independence
-
Say goodbye to their grown-up and join in the fun
-
Show interest and willingness to participate in activities
-
Let us know if they need help or have a concern
-
Move from one activity to another with minimal support, even when things shift a little
-
Take part in group activities without needing constant one-on-one attention
-
Stay with the group and play safely without wandering off
-
Use the restroom, wash hands, and get dressed with independence
-
Work through challenges without using physical or hurtful language
We’re here to support each child’s growth with care and compassion and these guidelines help create a safe and positive space for everyone to learn and thrive together!
