WONDER-led Play, Powered by Curiosity

Welcome to a world where curiosity leads the way!

In our TK/Kindergarten 2-Day Program, children are the leaders of their own learning journey.

With a play and project-based approach, each day is packed with hands-on adventures using authentic materials

and real-world experiences.

Student interests spark our investigations. Anything from exploring animal life cycles, cooking up a story-inspired recipe, to putting on a dramatic play performance, every activity is designed to bridge learning with imagination. Every lesson connects to a larger theme, helping little learners make meaningful connections across subjects.

Each day is intentionally designed in two parts, with each class building on and enhancing the other. This structure allows students to dive deeply into a topic from multiple angles. It promotes deep thinking, creating, experimenting, and exploring in ways that feel natural and exciting.

MONDAY AND WEDNESDAY PROGRAM

MONDAYS 10 AM - 2 PM

Little Literacy Lab

In this hands-on class, young learners develop fine motor skills, early handwriting abilities, and foundational phonics skills through fun, engaging activities. Kids will practice tracing, drawing, and forming letters while exploring arts and crafts, sensory activities, and playful exercises designed to build hand strength, coordination, and control. Along the way, they’ll also learn letter sounds, beginning phonics patterns, and early literacy skills. Through this interactive approach, children gain confidence, improve dexterity, and get ready to write and read while having a blast!

Story Sprouts

Where little imaginations grow! Every big writer starts with a small story! In Story Sprouts, children explore the building blocks of storytelling through read-alouds, puppet shows, group storytelling, and picture sequencing. They’ll learn about characters, settings, and story beginnings, middles, and ends, all while drawing, acting, and recording their ideas. Each week, we plant the seeds of storytelling and watch creativity bloom!

WEDNESDAYS 10 AM - 2 PM

Wonders and Numbers

Dive into a world of curiosity, counting, and discovery! In this class, young learners explore early math and science concepts through hands-on experiments, playful problem-solving, and exciting discovery activities. From counting and sorting to measuring, observing, and investigating the natural world, kids will strengthen critical thinking skills while having a blast. Every day is full of wonder, exploration, and fun as students uncover the magic of numbers and the marvels of science!

ARTventure

Set off on a creative journey where imagination meets inspiration! In this class, students explore the world of process art by experimenting with colors, textures, and materials in their own unique way. Each week, they’ll “meet” a famous artist and learn about their style, techniques, and creative approach and then create original artwork inspired by that artist. Through hands-on projects, playful exploration, and open-ended creativity, children build confidence, develop artistic skills, and discover that art is an exciting adventure with endless possibilities!

TUESDAY AND THURSDAY PROGRAM

TUESDAYS 10 AM - 2 PM

Stories & Wonder

Each Tuesday begins by filling the well. We gather in circle and welcome children into a shared rhythm of songs, verses, movement, and seasonal storytelling. Through oral stories and gentle puppetry, children meet characters and images drawn from nature, the turning seasons, and timeless tales, allowing rich inner pictures to take root. This opening part of the morning gently grounds children emotionally and socially, strengthens language, listening, and memory, and fosters imagination in a way that feels safe and familiar. As children settle into the rhythm of the group, a deep sense of belonging emerges...a feeling of “this is our place.” These stories are not simply entertainment and they are the living seed from which the rest of the day naturally grows.

Handwork & Meaningful Doing

After the stories have settled into the heart, we move into handwork and meaningful doing, where imagination is given form through the hands. Children engage in purposeful, real work such as kneading dough, stitching and weaving, tending the garden, preparing food, and caring for our shared space. Often inspired by the mood or themes of the morning’s story, this work feels connected and alive rather than separate from the storytelling. Through these activities, children build strength, coordination, patience, and perseverance while developing a deep sense of capability and contribution. This part of the day unfolds slowly and intentionally, allowing children to experience the quiet satisfaction of doing something real, useful, and needed within the rhythm of the group.

THURSDAYS 10 AM - 2 PM

Wonder Walks: From the Seasons

Thursday begins by grounding children in the natural world and the rhythms of the year. We start by observing and wondering. We notice changes in weather, light, plants, and materials, and explore the gifts of the current season through gentle conversation, movement, and hands-on experiences. Simple science and math naturally emerge as children count, compare, measure, sort, and test ideas, developing an understanding of patterns and change through real encounters rather than abstract instruction. This first part of the day invites children to slow down, pay attention, and let curiosity take root.

Wonder Walks: Into the Studio

As these discoveries begin to take shape, the class naturally flows into the studio. In the second part of the day, children carry their questions, observations, and ideas into creative work, using natural and open-ended materials to build, design, paint, sculpt, and construct. The studio becomes a place where thinking is made visible. Where a question about light turns into a shadow structure, a curiosity about balance becomes a tower, or an interest in growth transforms into an evolving art piece. Projects are revisited over time and allowed to grow and change alongside the season itself. In this way, exploration and studio work continually enhance one another, creating a rich, connected experience where curiosity leads to creation, and creation deepens understanding.

Is Your Child Ready To Participate In Our Program?

At The Learning Grove, we’re all about joyful learning, curiosity, and connection! To help your child get the most out of their experience, we ask that families take a moment to review the following readiness guidelines. We understand that some days are smoother than others (for little ones and big ones), but in general, students should be able to:

  • Be fully potty trained (including knowing when to go and managing toileting needs independently)

  • Wash hands and dress themselves with basic independence

  • Say goodbye to their grown-up and join in the fun

  • Show interest and willingness to participate in activities

  • Let us know if they need help or have a concern

  • Move from one activity to another with minimal support, even when things shift a little

  • Take part in group activities without needing constant one-on-one attention

  • Stay with the group and play safely without wandering off

  • Use the restroom, wash hands, and get dressed with independence

  • Work through challenges without using physical or hurtful language

We’re here to support each child’s growth with care and compassion and these guidelines help create a safe and positive space for everyone to learn and thrive together!
