Joy of Nations
& Cooking Around the World

Must be at least 5 years old at the start of the semester.

Pack your imagination! We're going on a global adventure! Joy of Nations is a one-of-a-kind Social Studies and Geography class where students travel the world through stories, music, food, and art as we explore how people celebrate and live in different cultures across the globe.

Each week, we’ll spotlight a different country or region and dive into its unique traditions, holidays, and ways of life. From crafting colorful lanterns for Lunar New Year to cooking up sweet treats for Diwali, students will experience the joy and meaning behind each celebration.

In this class, young learners will:
- Explore world cultures through hands-on projects and immersive activities
- Celebrate holidays and traditions from around the globe
- Try simple, kid-friendly recipes tied to cultural themes
- Create meaningful art and crafts inspired by global traditions
- Hear stories and music that reflect the voices of diverse communities
- Develop empathy, curiosity, and a global perspective

Whether we’re dancing to international rhythms, building papel picado banners, or baking traditional flatbreads, every class is a joyful invitation to learn, connect, and celebrate the beautiful diversity of our world. This class will perform a multi-cultural piece at our World Culture Celebration.

Let the journey begin!

Please Note: Due to the nature of our cooking activities, we are unable to accommodate individual allergy or dietary restrictions. We kindly ask families to consider this when enrolling in the class.

Mixed-Age Class Structure

At The Learning Grove, our classes are intentionally designed for mixed-age groups, typically Kindergarten through 5th Grade. 6th graders may be accepted on a case-by-case basis, especially if enrolling with a sibling in the same class.

This model encourages leadership, collaboration, and community. Older students mentor and model, while younger students learn by example, building empathy, confidence, and teamwork.

To support every child’s growth, our day includes age-based breakout sessions for developmentally appropriate instruction. This thoughtful structure ensures that all students are engaged, challenged, and inspired.

Is Your Child Ready To Participate In Our Program?

At The Learning Grove, we’re all about joyful learning, curiosity, and connection! To help your child get the most out of their experience, we ask that families take a moment to review the following readiness guidelines. We understand that some days are smoother than others (for little ones and big ones), but in general, students should be able to:

  • Be fully potty trained (including knowing when to go and managing toileting needs independently)

  • Wash hands and dress themselves with basic independence

  • Say goodbye to their grown-up and join in the fun

  • Show interest and willingness to participate in activities

  • Let us know if they need help or have a concern

  • Move from one activity to another with minimal support, even when things shift a little

  • Take part in group activities without needing constant one-on-one attention

  • Stay with the group and play safely without wandering off

  • Use the restroom, wash hands, and get dressed with independence

  • Work through challenges without using physical or hurtful language

We’re here to support each child’s growth with care and compassion and these guidelines help create a safe and positive space for everyone to learn and thrive together!
